BJP hits back at TMC over allegations of 'misuse of CBI'

"TMC senior members are under arrest or being questioned by the central agency for their involvement in the Saradha ponzi scheme scam. The question BJP would like to ask Mamata Banerjee is why is she portraying TMC a victim of BJP sponsored conspiracy? The larger question in your mind is 'if he sings to CBI then what will happen'?" the BJP said.
  
BJP secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said in a statement that state minister Madan Mitra is close to Banerjee and Sudipto Sen and knows enough on Saradha scam.
  
He said the CBI probe was ordered by the Supreme Court when BJP was not in power. "In order to divert the scam issue you are doubting the investigation and casting aspersion on the apex court," he said.
  
Singh also questioned the Left and the Congress for supporting the TMC in Parliament.

"BJP had succeeded in winning Lok Sabha elections based on communalism and even public failed to recognise the fact," Rahul told an election rally here.

He accused BJP of "cheating" people of the nation by showing sweet dreams and "misguiding" them on communal lines.   

Gandhi was addressing public rally at Bani, organised in support of Congress candidate Rajneesh Sharma Miyan.   

He was accompanied by Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, JK state chief Saifuddin Soz on his campaigning for the party candidate.

Goa Congress ridicules Centre's Christmas circular to schools

In a circular on December 10, the Samiti had asked the deputy commissioners to ensure that 'Good Governance Day' was celebrated at all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) on December 25 with action taken to be communicated to the commissioner's office.

Congress'S Goa spokesman Sunil Kawthankar said the move might cause a communal discord in the state.

"This is a purposeful move to undermine the importance of Christmas in the country. This will trigger communal discord in the state," he said at a press meet.

Senior Congress leaders Agnelo Fernandes and legislator Pandurang Madkaikar were also present on the occasion.

Terming it a "Gujarat model", Fernandes said that the Centre is testing the waters by sending the circular only to Navodaya Vidyalayas.

"If they find there is no response from the public, they will implement it in all the schools in the state," the former Calangute legislator alleged.

PM Modi to address rallies in Jammu ahead of final phase polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sources said Modi will address rallies in Kathua district and Jammu city. "PM Modi's first rally will be held at Mandi in Billawar constituency and the second at MA Stadium in Jammu City," a party source said.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to address two election rallies in the Jammu region on Tuesday. Twenty constituencies in Rajouri, Jammu and Kathua districts go to polls on Saturday in the fifth and final phase of state assembly elections.

In the fourth and penultimate phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections in 18 constituencies, the voters defied separatists' boycott call and chilly weather and came out in good numbers on Sunday to record a 49 percent turnout

BJP, JDS members stage walk out from Karnataka Assembly over cane growers issue

Raising the issue, Opposition BJP Leader Jagadish Shettar alleged that the government has failed to commit itself to pay Rs 2,500 per tonne to sugarcane growers and charged that it was in favour of sugar lobby.

Dubbing the government "anti-farmers", he said it has been talking about taking action against mill owners but in reality nothing had happened.
   
JDS Floor Leader H D Kumaraswamy asked the government to pay farmers first and recover the amount later from sugar factories.

Opposition has run out of issues: PM Modi in Jharkhand

Seeking a stable government with full majority in Jharkhand, Modi asked people not to hand over power in the state in the hands of "thekedars" (brokers).

"These days leaders of opposition parties are very upset. They have to campaign for the sake of their survival and are going to Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir too. But they don't have any issues against the Modi government. They are repeating their speeches made during the Lok Sabha elections. There is bankruptcy of issues for opposition," Modi said addressing a poll rally here on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said his government's policies will help the mineral-rich state progress fast and reap benefits of its coal reserves.

Control over Mumbai should lie with Maharashtra Government: Sena

"There is no doubt that Mumbai should develop, but we have to ensure that the remedy does not turn out to be more dangerous than the illness itself. The Shiv Sena believes that Mumbai will not be separated from Maharashtra and the control of the city will only lie with the state government," the Shiv Sena, which recently joined the BJP-led state government, said in an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"If the PM only gives special attention to Mumbai, he will be accused of favouritism. Opposition parties will get the ammunition to fire salvo at the government saying that big industrialists are close to the BJP, hence the PM is giving special attention to the city," it said.

The Sena said other cities of the state, like Mumbai, should also be made into world class cities and the focus should not be on Mumbai alone. "Nagpur is the second capital of Maharashtra. The Vidarbha region is in dire need of development and industrial growth. Even cities in the Marathwada region can be developed into world class cities. All this will contribute to the development of the state," the editorial said.

Don't be misled by AAP: BJP MP to Delhi voters

Addressing a "nukkad sabha" at R K Puram ahead of the Assembly polls, he said Prime Minister Modi has in just six months taken India and put it in a place of "vishwa ka guru" and in the coming four-and-a-half years, the country's fate and future will undergo a sea change under his leadership.

"In the context of elections in Delhi, when the government will be formed here and MPs from here will be elected to Rajya Sabha, then Narendra Modi will have majority in Rajya Sabha as well. Once this happens, there will no hurdle in doing work anywhere.

"Arvind Kejriwal will try to mislead saying this is Vidhan Sabha election... Narendra Modi will run the country and he will run Delhi as well," the MP said.

In a bid to woo the Valmiki voters in the area, he said that this community was the bravest amongst Hindus as they had accepted carrying garbage on their heads but did not change their religion and urged them to support the party.

Hurdle cleared for Navi Mumbai International Airport

This followed intervention by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who was in New Delhi on  Sunday. "Under the 'Shared Till' approach, the operator will retain a percentage of non-aeronautical revenues generated from commercial activities like shops, concessions in terminal building, renting out parking lot, which enhances long-term project viability with attractive private participation through the PPP mode," Mohan Ninave, chief spokesperson for CIDCO, which is implementing the airport project, said on Monday.

In airports worldwide, Single Till, Double Till and Shared Till mechanisms exist with the trends moving towards the 'Shared Till' which ensures project viability, protects investors' interests and ultimately facilitates world-class facilities to flyers at the airport.

In 'Single Till', all revenues from aeronautical and non-aeronautical are used to cross-subsidise the expenditures incurred. In 'Double Till', the non-aeronautical revenues are totally separated, while in 'Shared Till' some percentage of revenues is used to cross-subsidise expenditure as in Mumbai and Delhi airports (30 percent) currently.

"NMIA, which will be operated in a highly competitive environment with the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) across the harbour, would not be able to sustain unless a similar regulatory regime is permitted to ensure a level playing field," the spokesperson said.

"As CSIA and the proposed NMIA would exist as the first-ever multi-airport system in India freely competing among each other in a free-market environment without any traffic allocation, the key concern expressed by the prospective bidders was the confusion on the regulatory framework, which has now been clarified," explained the spokesperson.

Delhi Congress targets BJP, AAP over increased power bills

Addressing a rally at the Uttam Nagar constituency here, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said it was for the first time that without any official inquiry or request, power load has been increased automatically.
  
"People of Delhi were expecting that the power bills will be lowered. But the way power bills have increased, it exposes the BJP and AAP who had promised a 30 and 50 percent decrease in power bills, " Lovely said .
  
He further said that the power hike roll-back in November was a 'temporary solution' given by the BJP.
  
"I want to tell them that in the coming elections, the people of Delhi will give a permanent solution to the problem and bring us back to power," he added.

Gujarat BJP in-charge Dinesh Sharma holds review meeting

Sharma, who is BJP state in-charge and national in-charge of the party's membership drive, is on a three-day visit of Gujarat to boost the drive.
  
On the first day, he held a meeting with the Gujarat BJP core group at the party headquarters in Koba near Gandhinagar, which was attended by several top leaders, including party national vice president Purushottam Rupala, Rajya Sabha MP Mansukh Mandavia, state minsters Shankar Chaudhari and Vijay Rupani, among others.
  
"Starting from Monday, party leaders will hold zone-wise meetings to boost the membership drive in the state. Ahead of those meetings, Sharma held meetings with key party leaders on Sunday at Gandhinagar to discuss the future course of action," BJP's media convener Harshad Patel said.
  
So far, more than 44 lakh members have been registered by the party through its booth-level drive.
  
"We have covered more than 44,000 booths across the state and enrolled atleast 100 members from each booth. Now, our focus is to enroll members through mobile phones," Patel said.
  
Earlier, it was announced that anybody could join the BJP by giving a missed call on 1800-266-2020.
  
During the meeting, Sharma also stressed on enrolling people from different walks of life.

"Our next step is to make use of mobile phones and reach out to intellectuals, women, educated youth, professionals and businessmen," Patel said.

Maharashtra government to cut non-plan expenditure by 40 percent: Khadse

"There is a fiscal deficit of Rs 26,000 crore, hence the government has decided to effect a 40 percent cut in non-plan expenditure till the State Budget Session in March next year," Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse told reporters here on the eve of the Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature.

The erstwhile Congress-NCP government had adopted a similar practice with 20 per cent cut in non-plan expenses, although they had never made an announcement to that effect, he said.

On drought and farmers' suicide, the minister said, "The government was concerned over farmers' suicides and drought- like situation looming large over 19,024 villages in parts of state. The crop of cotton, soya in Vidarbha region suffered due to paucity of rains. We have taken decision to provide relief to farmers."

Farmers will be given a 33.5 percent waiver in electricity bills and their crop loan will be restructured. The farm labourers will be absorbed in the EGS work.

"Similarly those children of farmers, who are appearing for SSC and HSC exams, will not have to pay the examination fees for the same," he said.

The BJP-Sena government is for 'minimum government and maximum governance' and will introduce one window-system for industries, where investment is less than Rs 100 crore and will be cleared within three days, he said.

"Development of Vidarbha will be a major issue for the government and implementation of Kelkar Committee on regional imbalances will be discussed in the House," he said.   

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Girish Bapat, Transport Minister Diwakar Raote, Industries Minister Subhash Desai, PWD Minister Eknath Shinde and Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule were also present.

The BJP also took a dig at these parties that got united and broke away several times in the past, saying "they cannot remain together for two-three years and also cannot remain separated for more than a year".
  
"I have great personal regard for Ram Manohar Lohia for his integrity and commitment to India... But now naked family ambitions have come to represent his views," Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said here.
  
He said BJP has no problem even if more parties come under the Janata umbrella, citing "another story on disciples of Lohia's ideology, that they cannot remain together for two-three years and they cannot remain separate for more than one year."
  
Prasad criticized former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is believed to be the architect of the formation, asking "how he (Kumar) will bring good governance while uniting with Lalu Prasad in Bihar."
  
In a move aimed at consolidation of opposition forces, six constituents of the erstwhile 'Janata Parivar' will soon become one party as their leaders on Thursday had authorized Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to work out the "modalities" in that direction.
  
In their first joint action outside Parliament, SP, Janata Dal (Secular), Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal (United), Indian National Lok Dal and Samajwadi Janata Party will hold a 'dharna' here on December 22 against government's 'failure' to bring back black money stashed abroad, its alleged U-turn on farmers' issue and rising unemployment.

BJP not to include smaller allies in its govt in Maharashtra: Fadnavis

"None of the smaller allies will be included in the Cabinet today. But that does not mean they are not important. They are indeed very important to us because they are our allies. Our allies will be always taken into confidence in all our works," he said while addressing reporters here.

The BJP had fought the October Assembly polls in alliance with RPI (Athawale), Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP), Shetkari Sangathana and Shivsangram. Except RSP (one seat), none of other parties could open their account.

Asked if leaders of BJP's smaller allies are upset over not being invited for the oath taking ceremony at Vidhan Bhavan, Fadnavis said all of them have been invited.

"We have sent invites to all the party leaders. I had, myself spoken to Vinayak Mete, Ramdas Athawale, Raju Shetty and invited them to be a part of the ceremony. There is no question of them being upset then," Fadnavis said.

Asked if he was concerned over a PIL being filed against the Sena joining his Ministry, he said there is no rule that prevents any party from joining the Government.

"I do not think the PIL will stand in court. The opposition leader resigned before the Shiv Sena gets inducted in the government. There is no such rule specifying who can join the government and who cannot. All procedures have been followed," Fadnavis said.

'Janata Parivar' leaders 'sided with BJP in past for power': CPI

"Those who are following the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies and have tasted fruits of success with the help of BJP in the past do not look good speaking about farmers' interest or opposing communal forces," Anjaan said.
  
"Though the unity among 'Janata Parivar' leaders is worth welcoming, Janata Dal (U) leader Nitish Kumar is recourse in a lie," he said.
  
"Nitish has given a call for dharna in Delhi on December 22 but in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where their parties are at the helm, no step is being taken for farmers' interest," the leader said, adding, the governments in both the states are following the footsteps of Narendra Modi and pursuing the economic policies of BJP and Congress.
    
Referring to the eight-year alliance between JD(U) and BJP in Bihar, Anjaan said the talk about opposing communal forces does not suit the leaders of the Janata Parivar.
  
He also claimed that Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Deva Gowda took BJP's help for making his son the Chief Minister.
  
"SP government provided all help for facilitating Sangh camp in Chitrakoot," he added.
  
When asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's recent controversial comments, he said that the language being used by her is most 'unbecoming' for a cultured person.

Two lakh BJP workers to attend Raje government's 1st anniversary event

"Though the Rajasthan government is the primary host of the one-year celebrations of the BJP rule, the party has asked nearly two lakh workers, right from the booth-level to rural and urban level, to attend the anniversary event at Janpath, a road in front of Vidhan Sabha on December 13," state party president Ashok Parnami said on Thursday.
  
Parnami said Union Cabinet Ministers will be invited by the government, while the party will extend the invite to senior leaders from everywhere in the country.
  
The three-hour event is being planned by the state government, he said.
  
When asked if the party was planning to mobilise workers especially at the booth-level in view of January's panchayat polls, Parnami said, "Important is that the workers should know what and how much work Raje government has done in the last one year so that they could carry a right message in public."
  
Parnami said several schemes undertaken by the Raje government like 'Sarkar aapke dwar' and Bhamashah Yojna related to pension and medical relief for BPL beneficiaries will be projected in the event.

Maharashtra government to come out with white paper on economy: Mungantiwar

"The White paper will be out before the Budget session of state legislature and will deal with the huge debt of over Rs 3 lakh crore... the state government is paying Rs 63 crore towards interest per day," Mungantiwar said addressing meet-the-press programme here.

"There are many unanswered questions on whether the loan meant for a particular project was properly utilised, wasthere any criminal expenditure (involved), how much employment opportunities were created," the senior BJP leader said.

Mungantiwar also clarified the white paper will not be "a tool of vengeance" against any individual or party to settle political scores, but to know the actual financial status.

He said the Finance Ministry is reviewing the status and performance of more than 1,200 schemes of the state government.

"All the heads of the departments have been asked to prepare a status report on their schemes by June next," Mungantiwar said.

He said his ministry has issued directives to all departments to avoid the last minute rush to spend the remaining budgetary funds in the month of March, before the end of the fiscal year.

"They will have to finish 85 percent of the provisions before March and only remaining 15 percent will be allowed to be utilised in March," the minister said.   

Mungantiwar said he would visit every district to streamline the administration. "I will hold meetings with local representatives, top functionaries of civil bodies like municipal corporation."

"I have sent a special recommendation to the Governor requesting him that the Election Commission is not giving any advice, therefore, he should take action and decide," he said.
  
"If not satisfied with my report, they should table it in the Assembly. The decision has to be taken by the
Governor," he added. The Lokayuta said that he initially sent the report in February to the Chief Minister, which was later forwarded to the Governor.

Giriraj Singh takes dig at Kejriwal, calls him 'impersonator'

"Kejriwal is someone who wants to play 'Hanuman' in Ramlila but later backs out. He promised free electricity, giving legal status to slums but when he realised that he can not do all that, he went back to 'dharna'. Society is full of impersonators and I warn people not to fall prey to him.

"Someone who had not fulfilled his responsibilities, don't give him a second chance," he said while addressing a rally at Dilshad garden area.

The Minister of state for Micro, Small and Medium enterprises also slammed the Congress for indulging in "appeasement politics" with the minority community to garner votes in the garb of secularism.

Singh, who had stoked a controversy during the run up to the General elections by saying that those who want to stop Narendra Modi from becoming Prime Minister should go to Pakistan, blamed media for misquoting him.

"That was cut and paste job by the media persons, but I am against minority appeasement. Congress exercises so called secular politics, that is actually politics of appeasement," he said.

Denouncing the fire incident at a church in East Delhi, Singh said, "I came to know about the church fire through the media. The incident is condemnable and I believe in 'sarvdharm sambhav'," he said.

Drawing parallels between Swami Vivekananda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minister said, "Just like Vivekananda did in Chicago, Modi is bringing India's glory back by speaking at international forums."

Sadhvi trying to polarize voters ahead of Delhi poll: AAP

AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said the language used by her was "bad in taste and reflected "arrogance of power" of BJP.

BJP wants to polarise the issue ahead of Delhi assembly of elections as it has no issues left to bring before people and fight elections, Yadav said.
