The benchmark BSE Sensex wiped off initial gains and was trading over 30 points down in morning trade on Monday. At 10.31 am, Sensex was down 25.92 points at 20350.64. Similarly, Nifty was down 7.80 points at 6055.40 during the same.
Earlier in early trade, the 30-share barometer rose by 42.66 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 20,419.22 with realty, metal and auto sector stocks leading the rise. The National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 12.25 points, or 0.20 per cent, to 6,075.45.
Among other Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei rose by 1.24 per cent while Hong Kong's Hang Seng up by 9.90 points in early trade on Monday. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.06 per cent higher in Friday's trade.
