Talks fail, banks to strike work on Feb 10-11

The conciliation effort made by the Central Chief Labour Commissioner to avert the all-India bank strike scheduled for February 10-11 has failed, and the United Forum of Bank Unions has decided to go ahead with the strike.

The talks between the UFBU and the Indian Banks’ Association over a five-year wage revision package, held in New Delhi on Thursday, failed because the bank managements had nothing new to offer, MV Murali, convenor of the UFBU, told Business Line.

The CLC had suggested to the IBA to advance the next round of bilateral talks scheduled for February 13 to a date prior to the strike, but the IBA functionaries were not willing.
