PM Narendra Modi to open HN Hospital next week

Located in the heart of South Mumbai, the hospital, now called Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research, in its 90th year, has been completely rebuilt by Reliance Foundation led by its Chairperson Nita Ambani into a most- modern 19-storey tower and two heritage wings.

Reliance Foundation is run by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries.

Modi will inaugurate the hospital on October 25, the company said in a statement.

"Founded in 1925 as Mumbai's first general Hospital, it has a rich heritage. It witnessed the freedom struggle and the Second World War and one of the most frequent visitors then was our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi," it said.

The Hospital celebrated its Silver Jubilee with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as its Chief Guest and the Golden Jubilee celebrations was graced by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan.

Now, in its 90th year, the Prime Minister is gracing the inauguration of this hospital.

The hospital has state-of-the-art operation theatres equipped with robotic surgery and on-line video conferencing enabling live consultations with specialists across the world and a hybrid cath-lab India's first for emergency heart operations.

It has collaboration with John Hopkins, MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Southern California.

"The general wards of the hospital will have the same level of treatment for the citizens at the bottom of the pyramid.

"The Hospital has an outreach program that currently covers over 310,000 individuals in the vicinity providing preventive and primary healthcare on a digital platform virtually free of costs," the statement said.
