Anil Agarwal to be Chairman Emeritus of Sesa Sterlite

In a major overhaul of its Board, Vedanta group firm Sesa Sterlite Ltd today said its Non-executive Chairman Anil Agarwal will now become Chairman Emeritus and lay the role of Chief Mento

His brother and company's Executive Vice Chairman Navin Agarwal will takeover as Chairman, while former head of Rio Tinto Tom Albanese will be the CEO, Sesa Sterlite said in a statement. The changes are effective from April 1.

Albanese, 56, has already been appointed the CEO of Vedanta Resources Plc - the group's parent firm - from April 1. He succeeds M S Mehta, who retires today, at both the companies.

For many years, a single person - including Mehta – has been the CEO of Vedanta group's two most prominent companies, Vedanta Resources and Sesa Sterlite (previously Sterlite Industries).

"Navin Agarwal, currently Executive Vice Chairman, is appointed the Chairman of the Board. Anil Agarwal, Non- Executive Chairman, will now be the Chairman Emeritus of Sesa Sterlite, and will continue to provide his vision to the Group, and play the role of chief mentor," the company said.

The announcement has already triggered a buzz in industry circles whether Anil Agarwal is considering to become Non- Executive Chairman of Vedanta Resources as well.

In November 2012, he had said that he wanted to handover the reins of his USD 15-billion Vedanta group to a professional CEO over the next 3-4 years and would like to take the mentoring role as Non-Executive Chairman thereafter.

Sesa Sterlite has also appointed two Independent Directors, Lalita Gupte and Naresh Chandra, and two full time Directors, Tarun Jain and D D Jalan, on its Board.

Chetichand is the day to wish

पूरे विश्व में चैत्र माह की चंद्र तिथि पर भगवान झूलेलाल की जयंती मनाई जाती है। चेटीचंड महोत्सव प्रचलित कथा है कि सिंध प्रदेश के ठट्ठा नगर में एक मिरखशाह नाम का राजा था जो हिन्दुओं पर अत्याचार करता था।

वह हिन्दुओं पर धर्म परिवर्तन के लिए भी दबाव डालता था। एक बार उसने धर्म परिवर्तन के लिए लोगों को सात दिन की मोहलत दी। तब कुछ लोग परेशान होकर सिंधु नदी के किनारे आ गए और भूखे-प्यासे रहकर उन्होंने वरुण देवता की उपासना की।

तब प्रभु का हृदय पसीज गया और वे मछली पर दिव्य रूप में प्रकट हुए। उन्होंने भक्तों से कहा कि तुम लोग निडर होकर जाओ मैं तुम्हारी सहायता के लिए नसरपुर में अपने भक्त रतनराय के घर माता देवकी के गर्म से जन्म लूंगा। जब राजा का अत्याचार किसी भी तरह कम नहीं हुआ तो वरूण देव ने उसे अपने प्रभाव से सही राह दिखाई। प्रभु के अवतरण उपलक्ष में सिंधी समाज द्वारा चेटीचंड धूमधाम के साथ मनाया जाता है।

इस त्योहार से जुड़ी एक किवदंती यह भी है कि चूंकि सिंधी समुदाय व्यापारिक वर्ग रहा है इसलिए जब इस समुदाय के लोग व्यापार के लिए जलमार्ग से गुजरते थे तो उन्हें कई विपदाओं का सामना करना पड़ता था।

समुद्री तूफान और आपदाओं के साथ दस्यु गिरोह भी लूटपाट करके व्यापारियों का माल लूट लेते थे। ऐसी स्थिति में जब सिंधी समुदाय के व्यापारी जलमार्ग से यात्रा पर निकलते तो उनकी स्त्रियां वरुण देवता से पति की रक्षा की कामना करती थीं, तरह-तरह से मन्न्त मांगती थीं।

भगवान झूलेलाल जल के देवता हैं अंत वे सिंधी समुदाय के आराध्य देव माने गए। वर्ष भर जिनकी मन्नातें पूरी हुई हों वे आज के दिन भगवान झूलेलालजी का शुक्र अदा करते हैं। इस दिन नई मन्नातें भी ली जाती हैं। चेटीचंड के दिन प्रात: उठकर अपने बुजुर्गों एवं संतों के आशीर्वाद से दिन की शुरूआत होती है।

इसी दिन नवजात शिशुओं का मुंडन भी कराया जाता है। सिंधी समुदाय के लोग अपने घर पांच दीप जलाकर और विद्युत सज्जा कर चेटीचंड को दीवाली की तरह मनाते हैं।

झारखंड के रामगढ़ जिला में स्थित भगवान शिव का एक ऐसा रहस्मयी शिवमंदिर है, जिसके बारें में जानने के बाद हर श्रद्धालु इस मंदिर में एक बार जरूर जाना चाहता है।

यूं तो भगवान शिव को लेकर कई पौराणिक कथाएं प्रचलित हैं लेकिन यहां आज भी भगवान के चमत्कार कभी-कभी देखने को मिल जाते हैं।

कहते हैं जब इस मंदिर की जानकारी अग्रेजों को हुई और उन्होंने यहां होने वाले चमत्कार को अपनी आंखों से देखा तो वह देखकर हैरान हो गए थे। इस तरह घटनाक्रम अकसर होने पर लोगों में भगवान के प्रति आस्था और मजबूत हो गई है।

यही वजह है कि इस मंदिर के बारे में लोग दूर-दूर से यहां दर्शन के लिए आते हैं। इस शिवमंदिर को पहले से ही टूटी झरना मंदिर के नाम से जानते हैं।

मंदिर में मौजूद शिवलिंग पर स्वतः 24 घंटे जलाभिषेक होता रहता है। दिलचस्प है कि यह जलाभिषेक कोई और नहीं बल्कि खुद मां गंगा निर्मल जल से करती हैं।

दरअसल शिवलिंग के ऊपर मां गंगा की एक प्रतिमा स्थापित है जहां से जल की धारा उनकी हथेलियों से होता हुआ शिवलिंग पर गिरता है। यह आज भी रहस्य बना हुआ है कि आखिर इस पानी का स्त्रोत कहां है?

कश्मीर स्थित खीर भवानी मंदिर श्रीनगर से महज 27 किलोमीटर दूर तुल्ला मुल्ला गांव में स्थित है। इस मंदिर में मां को खीर प्रसाद के रूप में चढ़ाई जाती है इसलिए इस मंदिर को खीर भवानी मंदिर कहा जाता है।

यहां खीर का एक विशेष महत्त्व है और इसका इस्तेमाल यहां प्रमुख प्रसाद के रूप में किया जाता है। मान्यता है कि अगर यहां मौजूद झरने के पानी का रंग बदल कर सफ़ेद से काला हो जाए तो पूरे क्षेत्र में अप्रत्याशित विपत्ति आती है।

मां दुर्गा को समर्पित इस मंदिर का निर्माण एक बहती हुई धारा पर किया गया है। इस मंदिर के चारों ओर चिनार के पेड़ और नदियों की धाराएं हैं, जो इस जगह की सुंदरता पर चार चांद लगाते हुए नज़र आते हैं।

ये मंदिर, कश्मीर के हिन्दू समुदाय की आस्था को बखूबी दर्शाता है। खीर भवानी देवी के मंदिर को कई नामों से जाना जाता है जैसे 'महाराग्य देवी', 'रग्न्या देवी', 'रजनी देवी', 'रग्न्या भगवती' मंदिर अन्य नाम भी प्रचलित हैं।

इस मंदिर का निर्माण 1912 में महाराजा प्रताप सिंह द्वारा करवाया गया जिसे बाद में महाराजा हरि सिंह द्वारा पूरा किया गया। इस मंदिर की एक ख़ास बात यह है कि यहां एक षट्कोणीय झरना है जिसे यहां के मूल निवासी देवी का प्रतीक मानते हैं।

किंवदंती है कि त्रेतायुग में भगवान श्रीराम ने इस मंदिर में चौदह वर्ष के वनवास के समय पूजा की थी। वनवास की अवधि समाप्त होने के बाद भगवान हनुमानजी को एक दिन अचानक यह आदेश मिला कि वो देवी की मूर्ति को स्थापित करें।

हनुमानजी ने प्राप्त आदेश का पालन किया और देवी की मूर्ति को इस स्थान पर स्थापित किया, तब से लेकर आज तक मां की मूर्ति इसी स्थान पर है।

मां दुर्गा को नवारात्री के पहले दिन सर्वप्रथम शैलपुत्री के रूप में पूजा जाता है। राजा हिमालय के यहां मां जन्म लेतीं हैं। इसलिए मां का नाम शैलपुत्री रखा गया। इनका वाहन वृषभ है।

देवी ने दाएं हाथ में त्रिशूल धारण कर रखा है और बाएं हाथ में कमल सुशोभित है। उनकी एक करूण कथा है। एक बार जब प्रजापति दक्ष ने बहुत बड़ा यज्ञ किया तो इसमें उन्होंने सारे देवताओं को आमंत्रित किया।

लेकिन भगवान शिव को नहीं बुलाया और जब देवी सती पिता के घर बिन बुलाए पहुंच गईं तो उन्होंने भगवान शिव के प्रति भले बुरे शब्दों का उपयोग किया। सती अपमान सह नहीं सकीं। उन्होंने यज्ञ की अग्नि में स्वयं को जलाकर भस्म कर लिया।

इस दुःख से परेशान होकर भगवान शिव ने यज्ञ का विध्वंस कर दिया। यही सती अगले जन्म में शैलराज हिमालय की पुत्री के रूप में जन्मी और शैलपुत्री कहलाईं। शैलपुत्री भगवान शिव की पत्नी हैं। नवरात्र के पहले दिन मां शैलपुत्री को पूजा जाता है उनका व्रत किया जाता है। जिससे मां भक्तों पर अपनी कृपा हमेशा बनाए रखतीं हैं।

फल की प्राप्ति

मां दुर्गा के इस स्वरूप की उपासना करने से योगी मन को मूलाधारा चक्र में स्थित करते हैं और योग साधना प्रारंभ करते हैं।

Chaitra navratri will accompany the launch of the hindu new year

भारतीय सनातन धर्म में नववर्ष का शुभारंभ सोमवार को चैत्र शुक्ल प्रतिपदा (गुड़ी पड़वा) से हो रहा है। इसी दिन देवी आराधना का पर्व चैत्र नवरात्र का शुभारंभ होगा। नौ दिनों में रोजाना देवी के अलग-अलग रूपों की पूजा-अर्चना होगी। पहले दिन शैलपुत्री की आराधना होगी। घरों-मंदिरों में शक्ति उपासना के लिए विशेष मुहूर्तोंमें घट स्थापित किए जाएंगे। महापर्व की शुरुआत देवी के शैल पुत्री स्वरूप की आराधना से होगी।

41वां नामक संवत्सर

हिंदू नव वर्ष विक्रम संवत् 2071 एवं संवत्सरों की श्रृंखला का 41वां नामक संवत्सर होगा। इस तिथि से विक्रम संवत् का प्रारंभ भी होता है। मान्यता है कि भगवान ब्रह्मा ने इसी दिन से सृष्टि निर्माण का कार्य प्रारंभ किया था। ग्रंथों के अनुसार उज्जयिनी (वर्तमान उज्जैन) के राजा विक्रमादित्य ने इसी तिथि से कालगणना के लिए विक्रम संवत् का प्रारंभ किया था। जो आज भी हिंदू कालगणना के लिए सर्वाेत्तम माना जाता है।

अबूझ मुहूर्त

हिंदी पंचाग काल गणना का प्रथम माह चैत्र शुक्लपक्ष प्रतिपदा अर्थात गुड़ी पड़वा जिसे अबूझ मुहूर्त बताया है अर्थात बिना पंचांग देखे ही कोई भी शुभ कार्य इस दिन प्रारंभ कर सकते हैं। भगवान विष्णु का प्रथम मत्स्यावतार भी इसी दिन हुआ है।

60 साल बाद आया परिवर्तन

ज्योतिषाचार्य पं. धर्मेंद्र शास्त्री के अनुसार सन् 1953 के बाद 2014 में 19 जून से 2 नवंबर तक न्याय व धर्म के प्रतीक ग्रह शनि तुला व गुरू कर्क दोनों ही अपनी-अपनी उच्च राशि में होंगे। 60 साल कई अनुठे शुभ परिवर्तन होंगे एवं गुरु कर्क उच्च राशि में आने से किसी भी राशि की कन्या को विवाह में गुरु के 4, 8, 12 होने पर भी कोई अवरोध नही आएगा।

चंद्रदेव निभाएंगे राष्ट्रपति व प्रधानमंत्री की भूमिका

Samsung Electronics' mobile head paycheck hits $5.8 million, beating Apple's Cook

Head of Samsung Electronics Co's mobile business, J.K. Shin, received a $5.8 million compensation package last year, beating the paycheck of his counterpart at U.S. rival Apple Inc, the South Korean firm said on Monday in its first such disclosure under new regulations.

The world's biggest technology company by revenue said Shin's pack included a base salary of 1.17 billion won and 1.6 billion won in incentives and performance bonus.

By comparison, Apple chief executive Tim Cook received $4.25 million in 2013, little changed from the previous year when he had been paid $4.17 million.

Shin, who has led Samsung's mobile business since 2009, has since overseen the launch of its flagship Galaxy handsets that helped it unseat Apple in the smartphone market and also sparked patent litigations the world over that claimed Samsung copied the look and feel of the U.S. firm's iconic mobile products.

Samsung's other co-chief executive Kwon Oh-hyun, who leads the component business, earned even more, taking 6.77 billion won home, while third co-CEO Yoon Boo-keun, the head of its consumer electronics business, received 5.09 billion won.

South Korean financial authorities changed regulations late last year, requiring listed companies to include annual compensation details of executives who earn more than 500 million won in their business reports filings.

But the measure also drew some criticism as it does not shed much light on pay details of some high profile owners of business conglomerates or chaebols, as they frequently assume non-executive titles.

Apple, Samsung to renew smartphone, tablet patent war in court

Apple and Samsung are reportedly gearing up for another patent war round as both companies plan on returning to the federal court in the heart of Silicon Valley.

The two tech giants are renewing their battle over smartphone and tablet patents.

According to News 24, the rivals will face off once again before District Court Judge Lucy Koh in the California city of San Jose.

Intellectual property analyst Florian Mueller said that the parties tried hard to accuse each other's latest and greatest products, but US patent litigation is slow, which is why this 2014 trial will be about 2012 and pre-2012 products.

Nokia Lumia 930, Windows Phone 8.1 details tipped in fresh leaks

Nokia last week may have nearly confirmed its Lumia 630 smartphone, with the emergence of leaked promotional posters from China complete with specifications. A new bunch of leaks since then may have revealed details about the Lumia 930, the upcoming features of Windows Phone 8.1, and Nokia's version of the OS update for Lumia smartphones.

Previous rumours hinted both Microsoft and Nokia will together launch the Lumia 630 (also known as Moneypenny) and Lumia 930 (Martini) handsets running Windows Phone 8.1 at the 2 April event during the Microsoft Build Developer Conference, with the devices being leaked multiple times in the past few months.

A new rumour indicates that the Lumia 930 would not show up at the Build conference, and that the showcase of Windows Phone 8.1 will be postponed from 2 April to 8 April.

In the meanwhile, two new videos surfaced online that purportedly highlight the 'Action Centre' feature and the wallpaper parallax effect seen on the main Live Tile screen.

The first video claims to shows a black-colour variant of the Nokia Lumia 630 (without flash) smartphone running Windows Phone 8.1. The 'Action Centre', the new notification drop-down menu expected in WP8.1, has been shown off with four main toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera and screen brightness. A small icon also takes the user to the main settings page.

The alleged Windows Phone 8.1 feature video also shows a separate tab for what looks like a short tour guide for the Lumia 630. The Windows Phone Store is also seen with new tabs and categories that leaked in a video recently.

Android app by Indian developer caught mining bitcoins

Songs, an app probably used by a few million Indian Android users, was among the two apps recently caught covertly using smartphones for mining bitcoins and dogecoins.

Security researchers at Trend Micro, a company that makes antivirus and other security applications, recently wrote in a blog that 'Songs' and 'Prized - Real Rewards & Prizes' were using smartphones to covertly mine for virtual currency.

Mining virtual currency like bitcoin or dogecoin requires lots of computing power. If an app uses a smartphone to mine virtual currency, the process is likely to keep the processor running at 100%, resulting in poor battery life and heating of the device.

Trend Micro said the apps being used for bitcoin and dogecoin mining were injected with ANDROIDOS_KAGECOIN, a malware.

"(Some) coin mining apps were found outside of the Google Play Store, but we have found the same behaviour in apps (Songs and Prized) inside the Google Play Store. These apps have been downloaded by millions of users, which means that there may be many Android devices out there being used to mine cryptocurrency for cybercriminals," a Veo Zhang, a mobile threat analyst with Trend Micro wrote in the blog.

"Analyzing the code of these apps reveal the cryptocurrency mining code inside. Unlike the other malicious apps, in these cases the mining only occurs when the device is charging, as the increased energy usage won't be noticed as much."..

Samsung Galaxy S5 has it, so does the Sony Xperia Z1, but is waterproofing the feature to look for in a smartphone?

After the crazy megapixel wars, screen resolution wars and crazy processor wars, the new trend in smartphones seems to be something that is actually useful in everyday usage. From the top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S5 to the mid-range Wickedleak Wammy Passion X, the new buzzword is waterproof. But do you really need your mobile phone to be waterproof?

Water-resistant, Not Waterproof

First, let’s clear up one thing. These phones aren’t waterproof, they are water-resistant. The difference is vast in pedantic definitions (where jargon like “Ingress Protection” comes into play), but in real-world usage, water-resistant is good enough. What water-resistant means is that the phone will not be on the fritz if you happened to use it in the rain, dropped it in the pool, or accidentally spilt a drink on it. But you can’t go snorkeling with it or leave it under a waterfall for hours—those things would require waterproofing.

There’s an aura around the term “waterproof” that makes the consumer believe the phone is capable of more than it is. It only means you can reasonably expect it to survive damage, provided you aren’t the one causing damage intentionally. For example, if your phone were to drop in that pool, you wouldn’t leave it there, you’d dive in to fetch it. But if you think you can drop your phone into the deep end and find it working after hours, think again—that’s not what waterproofing in phones is.

There are also caveats to all the phones when it comes to water resistance. For instance, with the Sony Xperia Z1, Z2 or the Samsung Galaxy S5, the company notes that you need to have the port flaps sealed, otherwise the protection doesn’t count.

What all this adds up to is that waterproofing in smartphones is not yet the main reason to buy the device. It’s a nice feature to have in a device, but it’s not robust enough to take on any water damage either.

Nokia to Madras High Court: Can’t pay even part of Rs 2,400 crore sales tax demand

The Madras High Court on Friday asked Nokia's India unit whether it can deposit in an escrow account a part of the Rs2,400 crore in value added tax demanded by the Tamil Nadu government. The Finnish handset maker said it cannot do so since it is in financial difficulty and offered to prove it to the court next week.

Nokia had moved the Madras High Court against the demand by Tamil Nadu sales tax department, which alleged that the company sold mobile phones meant for exports in the domestic market and that it owed taxes for fiscal years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. Nokia has said the claims are baseless.

It was a twin blow to Nokia, after a Supreme Court order early this month asked it to provide aRs3,500-crore guarantee before it transfers its Sriperumbudur plant, around 40 kms from Chennai, to Microsoft, upholding a lower court decision. "We already have to handle the Rs3,500-crore guarantees as directed by the Supreme Court. We can prove to court about our financial position next week," Nokia's senior counsel Arvind P DatarBSE 0.00 % told the court. "Nokia came to India on the government invitation instead of going to China and treatment like this done to meet its revenue targets will force investments out of Tamil Nadu."

Advocate General AL Somayaji said the company has not submitted any documents supporting it has exported. Datar responded saying Nokia exported mobile phones worthRs3,904 crore to several countries during these years in question and the country has earned foreign exchange.

"How did it come? By selling it in dollars to Madhya Pradesh?" Markets extend dream run; Sensex, Nifty soar to all-time highs

The benchmark indices of BSE and NSE continued their dream run ahead of polls, scaling new all-time highs on strong capital inflows from foreign funds, expectations of RBI keeping key rates unchanged in the next week's policy meet and a stable Government assuming charge at the Centre after the general elections.

Shares of PSU, power, banking, capital goods, metal, realty and refinery firms firmed up sharply on good buying support.

ONGC and RIL shares rose despite the Election Commission directing the Centre to put on hold the proposed hike in natural gas prices from April 1.

Mid and small-cap indices shot up by 3.21 per cent and 2.45 per cent respectively on strong demand from retail investors.

However, shares of IT and Pharma sectors declined on profit-booking.

The BSE Sensex opened higher at 21,827.50 and rose further to an all-time intra-day high of 22,363.97 before ending at a new closing peak of 22,339.97, a gain of 584.65 points, or 2.69 per cent, over the last week.

The NSE 50-share Nifty rose by 201 points, or 3.09 per cent, to register a historic closing high of 6,695.90. It recorded a life-time intra-day high of 6,702.60.

Hectic activity on expiry of derivative contracts on March 27 also helped domestic markets to remain upbeat.

Consistent pumping of money by FIIs boosted the market sentiment as they invested net Rs 7,562.57 crore during this week, including the provisional figure of March 28, as per the SEBI data.

IT stocks declined on profit-booking following rise in the rupee value against the dollar which will adversely affects operating profit margins of IT firms in dollar terms as the sector derives a lion's share of revenue from exports.

The RBI's first Bi-monthly monetary policy statement 2014-15 on Tuesday, April 1, will dictate near term trend on the bourses, a broker said...

New objects seen but none recovered as hunt for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 continues

No debris spotted in an area off the west coast of Australia has been recovered, a Malaysian minister involved in the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 said Saturday, adding he hoped for some news soon.

The first plane back from the search Saturday, a Chinese Ilyushin IL-76, spotted three floating objects, China's official Xinhua News Agency said, a day after several planes and ships combing the newly targeted area closer to mainland Australia saw several other objects, including two rectangular items that were blue and gray.

Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters near Kuala Lumpur after meeting several families of passengers on the plane that there was no new information on the objects, which could just be regular debris, or could be from the missing plane...

As moderator, Raghuram Rajan digs into bank NPAs, jobless growth

Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan moderated a panel discussion on Friday, just 48 hours before releasing the first quarter monetary policy.

He did not give any indication about how the rates would move on Monday, but managed to touch on most key issues concerning the Indian economy and some beyond.

Rajan told the gathering facing the panel assembled for the opening of the University of Chicago’s Delhi centre that he will take no questions.

He kept to his promise, but even as he did so he got the panel to discuss the level of non-performing assets (NPAs) in the Indian banking sector to the subject of jobless growth and the social tension which it creates.

The governor surprised ICICI Bank CEO and managing director Chanda Kochhar asking for her assessment about the level of NPAs in Indian banks, especially in the public sector. “Rising NPAs in PSU banks are a concern. Especially in public sector, not in private banks,” he said.

Rajan will give his take on which way the bad loans are moving as a part of his credit policy.

Kochhar, in her reply, claimed that most of it will improve once the clearances for projects start to flow in. Rajan quipped, “so you are saying there is no reason to believe that every bad loan is the cost of corruption.”

He also raised the cost of jobless growth with Arun Maira, member Planning Commission. Rajan has written about the need to provide jobs for the low-skilled labour by amending the Apprentice Act in the Economic Survey for FY13. Maira said skill deficit is a big gap for the economy but the employers have to pitch in with investments to bridge some of that.

In a question to Randall Kroszner, professor of economics at the Booth School of Business in Chicago University, Rajan wanted to know if the migration of jobs to higher levels..

Infosys overhauls executive council team

Infosys announced the formation of its new Executive Council (EC) team replacing the one that existed so far. The new EC will take charge at the start of new financial year.

Infosys founder, NR Narayana Murthy, made this announcement in Bengaluru on March 28. The new team is slated to take charge on April 1 - the start of financial year 2014-15. The company notified the US SEC about the change saying, "As reported previously by the company, the executive council will be dissolved effective April 1, 2014. Pursuant to this, effective April 1, 2014, the company will have nine executive officers."

The members of the newly formed council will have the Infy founder NR Narayana Murthy (Executive Chairman of the board), co-founder S Gopalakrishnan as Executive Vice-Chairman, and co-founder SD Shibulal as CEO and Managing Director.

Rest of the council will comprise Srinath Batni, Pravin Rao, BG Srinivas, Rajiv Bansal as Chief Financial Officer, Parvatheesam K as Chief Risk Officer and Company Secretary, and Srikantan Moorthy the Senior Vice-President, Group Head -HRD.

In an earlier rejig, Infosys went for some restricting in October 2013 when the company added more members to the executive council. After the changes, there were 30 members in the council. This new changes has reduced the council strength to less than a third.

Among the members of new council, Shibulal and Gopalakrishnan will reach the age of 60 in a year and may have to retire. Srinath Batni is likely to retire soon in this November, making a room for some more new members.

The company has plans to get a new CEO by the end of next financial year. For now, Infy EC has two members designated as President - BG Srinivas and Pravin Rao. This could very well be a race for the top slot.

To avoid any conflict of interest, Srinivas heads BFSI and European and other global markets. Pravin Rao heads global delivery and innovation in service for segments such as consumer goods, logistics and life sciences, and retail.

It must be noted that return of Murthy to Infosys executive chairman triggered many resignations ever since. The most recent resignation was that of Chandrashekar Kakal who was the Senior Vice-President and an EC member.

Science at the sight of the glory of rudraksh

एक किंवदंती के अनुसार रुद्राक्ष की उत्पत्ति भगवान शिव के आंसुओं से हुई है। शिव का यही प्रिय रुद्राक्ष अब वैज्ञानिकों के लिए भी आकर्षण का केंद्र हो गया है और देश-विदेश में इस पर रूद्राक्ष पर शोध अनुसंधान जारी है।

रुद्राक्ष को नीला संगमरमर भी कहा जाता है। इसके वृक्ष भारत (पूर्वी हिमालय) के साथ-साथ नेपाल, इंडोनेशिया, जकार्ता एवं जावा में भी पाए जाते हैं। वनस्पतिशास्त्र में इसे इलियोकार्पस गेनिट्रस कहते हैं। गोल, खुरदुरा, कठोर एवं लंबे समय तक खराब न होने वाला रुद्राक्ष एक बीज है। बीज पर धारियां पाई जाती हैं जिन्हें मुख कहा जाता है। पांचमुखी रुद्राक्ष बहुतायात से मिलता है जबकि एक व चौदह मुखी रुद्राक्ष दुर्लभ हैं।

प्राचीन ग्रंथों में इसे चमत्कारिक तथा दिव्यशक्ति स्वरूप बताया गया है। मान्यताओं के अनुसार रुद्राक्ष धारण करने से दिल की बीमारी, रक्तचाप एवं घबराहट आदि से मुक्ति मिलती है। रुद्राक्ष के बताए चमत्कारिक गुण वास्तविक हैं या नहीं यह जानने हेतु देश-विदेश मेंकई शोध कार्य किए गए एवं कई गुणों की पुष्टि भी हुई।

सेंट्रल काउंसिल ऑफ आयुर्वेदिक रिसर्च नई दिल्ली में 1966 में आयुर्वेदिक औषधि में प्रकाशित किया गया जिसमें रुद्राक्ष थैरेपी की चर्चा की गई थी। अस्सी के दशक में बनारस के इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी के वैज्ञानिकों ने डॉ. एस. राय के नेतृत्व में रुद्राक्ष पर अध्ययन कर इसके विद्युत चुंबकीय, अर्धचुंबकीय तथा औषधीय गुणों को सही पाया।

वैज्ञानिकों ने माना है कि इसकी औषधीय क्षमता विद्युत चुंबकीय प्रभाव से पैदा होती है। रुद्राक्ष के विद्युत चुंबकीय क्षेत्र एवं तेज गति की कंपन आवृत्ति स्पंदन से वैज्ञानिक भी आश्चर्य चकित हैं। इंटरनेशनल यूनिवर्सिटी फ्लोरिडा के वैज्ञानिक डॉ. डेविड ली ने अनुसंधान कर बताया कि रुद्राक्ष विद्युत ऊर्जा के आवेश को संचित करता है जिससे इसमें चुंबकीय गुण विकसित होताहै। इसे डाय इलेक्ट्रिक प्रापर्टी कहा गया। इसकी प्रकृति इलेक्ट्रोमैग्नेटिक व पैरामैग्नेटिक है एवं इसकी डायनामिक पोलेरिटी विशेषता अद्भुत है।

भारतीय वैज्ञानिक डॉ. एस.के. भट्टाचार्य ने 1975 में रुद्राक्ष के फार्माकोलॉजिकल गुणों का अध्ययन कर बताया कि कीमोफार्माकोलॉजिकल विशेषताओं के कारण यह हृदयरोग, रक्तचाप एवं कोलेस्ट्रॉल स्तर नियंत्रण में प्रभावशाली है। स्नायुतंत्र (नर्वस सिस्टम) पर भी यह प्रभाव डालता है एवं संभवत: न्यूरोट्रांसमीटर्स के प्रवाह को संतुलित करता है।

वैज्ञानिकों द्वारा इसका जैव-रासायनिक (बायो कैमिकल) विश्लेषण कर इसमें कोबाल्ट, जस्ता, निकल, लोहा, मैग्नीज़, फास्फोरस, एल्युमिनियम, कैल्शियम, सोडियम, पोटैशियम, सिलिका एवं गंधक तत्वों की उपस्थिति देखी गई। इन तत्वों की उपस्थिति से घनत्व बढ़ जाता है एवं इसी के फलस्वरूप पानीमें रखने पर यह डूब जाता है।

पानी में डूबने वाले रुद्राक्ष को असली माना जाता है, कुछ लोग यह भी मानते हैं कि दो तांबों के सिक्कों के मध्यरखने पर यदि इसमें कंपन होता है, तो यह असली है। असल में इस कंपन का कारण विद्युत चुंबकीय गुण तथा डायनामिक पोलेरिटी हो सकता है। जैव वैज्ञानिकों ने रुद्राक्ष में जीवाणु (बैक्टीरिया), विषाणु (वायरस), फफूंद(फंगाई) प्रतिरोधी गुणों को पाया है। कुछ कैंसर प्रतिरोधी क्षमता का आकलन भी किया गया है।

चीन में हुए खोज कार्य दर्शाते हैं कि रुद्राक्ष यिन-यांग एनर्जी का संतुलन बनाए रखने में कारगर है। दुनियाभर के वैज्ञानिक रुद्राक्ष के इतने सारे गुणों को एक साथ देखकर आश्चर्यचकित हैं।

Lord vishnu in liquid form

भीम कुण्ड विश्व प्रसिद्ध खजुराहो से लगभग 128 कि.मी. दूर स्थित है भीम कुण्ड। यह धार्मिक क्षेत्र आदिकाल से ऋषियों, मुनियों, तपस्वियों एवं साधकों के आकर्षण का केन्द्र रहा है।

वर्तमान समय में यह धार्मिक-पर्यटन एवं वैज्ञानिक शोध का केन्द्र भी बना हुआ है। अनेक शोधकर्ता और जलकुण्ड में कई बार गोताखोर उतार चुके हैं किन्तु इस जलकुण्ड की थाह आज तक कोई भी नहीं पा सका है।

पौराणिक ग्रंथों में भीम कुण्ड का नारद कुण्ड तथा नील कुण्ड के नाम से भी उल्लेख मिलता है। भीम कुण्ड के संबंध में कई कथाएं प्रचलित हैं। जिनमें से प्रमुख हैं देवर्षि नारद द्वारा साम गान का गायन।

पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार एक बार देवर्षि नारद आकाश मार्ग से विचरण कर रहे थे। रास्ते में उन्हें अनेक विकलांग स्त्री-पुरुष दिखाई पड़े. वे स्त्री-पुरुष न केवल विकलांग थे अपितु घायल भी थे तथा कराह रहे थे। यह दृश्य देख कर देवर्षि नारद दुखी हो गए।

वे उन स्त्री-पुरुषों के पास पहुंचे और उन्होंने उनसे उनका परिचय पूछा। उन स्त्री-पुरुषों ने बताया कि वे संगीत की राग-रागिनियां हैं। यह सुन कर देवर्षि नारद को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ। उन्होंने राग-रागिनियों से पूछा कि तुम लोगों की ये दशा कैसे हुई और तुम्हारे दुख-कष्ट को दूर करने के लिए मैं क्या कर सकता हूं।

देवर्षि नारद के पूछने पर राग-रागिनियों ने बताया कि पृथ्वी पर स्थित अनाड़ी गायक-गायिकाओं द्वारा दोषपूर्ण गायन के कारण हमारे अस्तित्व को क्षति पहुंची है। अब तो हमारा उद्धार तभी हो सकता है जब संगीत विद्या में निपुण कोई कुशल गायक साम गान का गायन करें।

देवर्षि नारद साम गान के ज्ञाता थे। राग-रागिनियों की बात सुन कर वे स्वयं को रोक नहीं सके और उन्होंने साम गान का गायन प्रारम्भ कर दिया। देवर्षि नारद का स्वर तीनों लोकों में व्याप्त होने लगा। देवता साम गान के स्वरों में मग्न होने लगे। भगवान शिव नर्तन कर उठे तथा भगवान ब्रह्मा ताल देने लगे।

साम गान के स्वरों सुन कर भगवान विष्णु इतने भावविभोर हो उठे कि वे द्रवीभूत हो कर उसी स्थान पर जा पहुंचे जहां पीडि़त राग-रागिनियां रहती थीं। विष्णु का स्पर्श पा कर राग-रागिनियां स्वस्थ हो गईं।

उन्होंने भगवान विष्णु से निवेदन किया कि वे द्रव रूप में सदा के लिए इसी स्थान में रुक जाएं जिससे अन्य पीडि़तों का भी उद्धार हो सके। भगवान विष्णु ने राग-रागिनियों की प्रार्थना स्वीकार कर ली और नील-जल के रूप में वहीं एक कुण्ड में ठहर गए. यही कुण्ड नारद कुण्ड, नील कुण्ड तथा भीम कुण्ड के नामों से पुकारा जाता है।

निष्क्रिय ज्वालामुखी

कहते हैं भीम कुण्ड को निष्क्रिय ज्वालामुखी की तरह है क्यों कि यह पर्वतीय स्थल में गुफा के भीतर कठोर चट्टानों के बीच जल कुण्ड के रूप में स्थित है।

अब तक कई भू-वैज्ञानिकों ने गोताखोरों द्वारा इसकी गहराई का पता लगाने का प्रयास किया है किन्तु उन्हें कुण्ड का तल नहीं मिला। कुण्ड के तल के बदले लगभग अस्सी फिट की गहराई में तेज जलधाराएं प्रवाहमान मिलीं जो संभवतः इसे समुद्र से जोड़ती हैं।

इसकी गहराई भू वैज्ञानिकों के लिए आज रहस्य बनी हुई है। यह भी उल्लेखनीय है कि इस जल कुण्ड का जल-स्तर कभी कम नहीं होता है। यह जल-कुण्ड एक गुफा में स्थित है। कहा जाता है कि इस कुण्ड में डूबने वाले का मृत शरीर कभी ऊपर नहीं आता है।

भीम कुण्ड एक ऐसा विशिष्ट तीर्थ स्थल है जहां ईश्वर और प्रकृति एकाकार रूप में विद्यमान हैं। जहां पहुंच कर प्रकृतिक विशेषताओं के रूप में ईश्वर की सत्ता पर स्वतः विश्वास होने लगता है।

HTC launches Moto G rival: Desire 310 with quad-core CPU, 5MP camera available for Rs 11,350

HTC seems to be on a roll. It has been lauded for the flagship One M8. Now, the company brings the affordable Desire 310 to its Indian audiences. The Desire 310 is now available online for a price of Rs. 11,350. According to Gizbot, the company also plans to launch the Desire 816 in India by May.

The HTC Desire 310 sports a 4.5-inch display with a FWVGA resolution of 480×854 pixels. The dual SIM (GSM + GSM) device comes powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M chipset, along with 512MB RAM. The 4GB onboard storage is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the camera front, the 310 gets a 5-megapixel rear snapper (with Full-HD video recording) and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB, EDGE, GPS, and 3G. It tips the scale at 140 grams, and measures 131.44×68.03×11.25mm. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella brags on Twitter as Office for iPad soars

Microsoft chief Satya Nadella took to Twitter to crow on Friday as Office software tailored for iPads soared to the top of the charts at Apple's online App Store.

"Looks like it's a pretty productive Friday for #iPad owners!" Nadella said in a Twitter message that included a picture showing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint were the three most popular free applications at the App Store.

Microsoft unveiled a version of its popular Office software suite for iPad tablets a day earlier as the company's new chief moved to expand its "Internet cloud" footprint.

Apple chief Tim Cook welcomed the offerings from the company's longtime rival with a tweet of his own, to which Nadella responded at Twitter with thanks and word that he is "excited to bring the magic of Office to iPad customers."

While Office applications for iPad are free, subscriptions to Microsoft's online Office 365 service are needed to be able to create or edit documents, spreadsheets or presentations.

Presentations, spreadsheets or documents created are saved on Microsoft servers using its OneDrive online data storage service and can be access from a range of devices.

The shrewd move lets Microsoft sidestep paying Apple the 30% cut it gets of the price of applications for its popular devices as well as in-app purchases.

In a note to investors, Credit Suisse described the move as a "massive revenue and operating profit opportunity for Microsoft" as people are given incentive to get Office 365 subscriptions typically costing $100 annually.

More than a billion people use Office, according to the Redmond, Washington-based technology titan.

Nadella laid out a vision of making the company the master of programs and services offered in the cloud for whatever gadgets people prefer.

Nadella said he wants to provide full-feature versions of its widely used programmes available for all types of devices as one aspect of Microsoft's overall strategy under his watch...

Facebook announced on Tuesday that it had acquired Oculus VR, the company behind the Oculus Rift gaming headset in a cash and stock deal valued at $2 billion.

The terms of the deal include $400 million in cash and 23.1 million shares of Facebook common stock.

This is where Oculus comes in. They build virtual reality technology, like the Oculus Rift headset. When you put it on, you enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game or a movie scene or a place far away. The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel like you're actually present in another place with other people. Apple, Google lose bid to avoid trial on tech worker lawsuit

A U.S. judge on Friday rejected a request from Apple, Google and two other tech companies to avoid a trial in a class action lawsuit alleging a scheme to drive down wages.

Tech workers sued the companies alleging they conspired to avoid competing for each other's employees in order to avert a salary war. Trial is scheduled to begin in May.

Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe asked for a judgment in their favor without a trial, arguing that any no-hire agreements between the companies were reached independently, and were not part of an overarching conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, Calif., however, rejected that argument.

"That the agreements were entered into and enforced by a small group of intertwining high level executives bolsters the inference that the agreements were not independent," wrote Koh. ..

Post Galaxy S5 launch, Samsung reportedly working on affordable LTE phones

The dust on Samsung’s Galaxy S5 India launch has barely settled,  but we already have news that the company is working at bringing affordable LTE phones to India. According to a report in The Economic Times, Vineet Taneja, Samsung India’s IT and mobiles division head had said that “Samsung’s roll out strategy for LTE phones will depend on the network roll outs by carriers and the scale they can build”.

Taneja reportedly further said that Samsung is looking at a landscape of TDDLTE on 2300 MHz band, 3G on 2100 MHz and 900 MHz bands and FDD LTE on 1800 MHz band. “Before the operators are ready, we will be ready with the road map and products for the market,” he added.

At the auctions held in February, telcos like Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Vodafone and Idea have bought airwaves in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands. So far, Bharti Airtel is the only company to have launched its 4G services in four circles and LTE voice services in Bangalore.

Samsung has been leading India’s smartphone market, according to the figures by the IDC. The company is believed to have sold over 3.5 crore Galaxy devices in India, so far. However, reports circulating the web have been claiming that Samsung’s growth has been weakened, owing to competition from companies like Sony, LG and Apple. LG has already announced its 4G variant of G2 for India starting at Rs 46,000.

The company recently launched its newest flagship the Galaxy S5 in the Indian market priced between Rs 51,000-53,000.

The S5 has a 5.1-inch screen with a Full HD resolution and an octa-core (eight core) processor which consists of two quad-core processors clocked at 1.9 and 1.3 GHz respectively.

 The device comes with 2GB RAM, memory space of 16 GB and a microSD slot that can accept cards up to 128 GB. India test fires nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile from Chandipur

India on Friday successfully test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear-capable surface-to-surface Prithvi II missile, with a range of 350 km, from a test range near Balasore as part of a user trial by the Army.

Integrated Test Range (ITR) director M.V. K. V. Prasad said the missile is capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads.
“It was a perfect launch and all mission objectives were met,” he said, adding the missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher in salvo mode from launch complex-3 at Chandipur at about 9.45 am.

“The missile trajectory was tracked by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) radars, electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry stations located along the coast of Odisha,” defence sources said.

“The downrange teams onboard the ship deployed near the designated impact point in the Bay of Bengal monitored the terminal events and splashdown,” they said. Defence sources said the training launch of Prithvi II, which was inducted into Strategic Force Command (SFC) in 2003, clearly indicate the country’s operational readiness to meet any eventuality besides establishing the reliability of this deterrent component of India’s strategic arsenal.

Prithvi-II is the first missile to be developed by DRDO under the country’s prestigious Integrated Guided Missile Development Program and is now a proven technology.

The missile is thrust by liquid propulsion twin engines and uses advanced inertial guidance system with manoeuvring trajectory.

The missile was randomly chosen from the production stock and the entire launch activities were carried out by the specially formed SFC as part of a regular training exercise. It was monitored by DRDO scientists, the sources said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged to reject US pressure tactics on trade and business policies

A group of India and American non-profit organisations and other groups have urged the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, not to succumb to the pressure of the US administration and reject the misleading allegations of US business associations on India's trade and economic policies.

The unilateral pressure by US administration on India, at the behest of US Business Associations lobby through US International Trade Commission (USITC) investigations and request to USTR to enlist India under Priority Foreign Country under Special 301 review, lacks legitimacy under WTO framework, the signatories to the letter said.

Released here on Thursday, the letter said the recent move of the USTR is also in conflict with WTO legal obligations and these unilateral pressure and threat of sanctions are in violation of legal obligations under WTO framework.

"Further these unilateral measures adopted by US to pressure India undermine the existence of WTO's dispute settlement mechanism," it said.

The letter urged the Prime Minister to challenge the legality of US Special 301 procedures at the WTO through its Dispute Settlement Body and continue to not cooperate with the USITC investigations nor meet any USITC officials.

It also urged the Prime Minister to pass the notification of Section 92 which will help expedite the compulsory license on patented medicines recommended by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare...

Nifty hits fresh record high in late trade

 Key benchmark indices trimmed gains after seeing a sudden surge in late trade. The 50-unit CNX Nifty hit fresh record high. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was provisionally up 101.74 points or 0.46%, off 47.86 points from the day's high and up 131 points from the day's low. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. The BSE Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indices were up more than 1% each.

Index heavyweight and cigarette major ITC slipped in choppy trade. Reliance Industries (RIL) gained amid volatility after the company's spokesperson Umesh Upadhyay after market hours on Thursday, 27 March 2014, said that the FIR relating to gas contracts filed by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the Union Government was completely illegal. Bank shares rose after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday, 27 March 2014, extended the deadline for banks to fully implement the stringent capital requirements under Basel III by a year due to industry wide concerns over potential bad loans and its impact on profitability. Shares of Adani group were in demand, with Adani Enterprises hitting 52-week high. Among power finance companies, REC and Power Finance Corporation surged.

High volatility was witnessed at the onset of the trading session as key benchmark indices trimmed an initial rally triggered by firm Asian stocks. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, hit record high. Volatility ruled the roost in morning trade as the key benchmark indices recovered from lower level after erasing almost entire gains after an initial surge. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2191.93 crore on Thursday, 27 March 2014, as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.

As per provisional closing, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 101.74 points or 0.46% to 22,316.11. The index jumped 149.60 points at the day's high of 22,363.97 in early trade, a record high for the barometer index. The index fell 29.26 points at the day's low of 22,185.11 in early afternoon trade.

The CNX Nifty was up 51.65 points or 0.78% to 6,693.40. The index hit a high of 6,702.60 in intraday trade, a record high for the index. The index hit a low of 6,643.80 in intraday trade.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,779 shares gained and 1,107 shares fell. A total of 163 shares were unchanged...

HC notice to Tamil Nadu govt on Nokia petition

 The Madras High Court on Friday issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a petition filed by handset major Nokia, challenging the state government’s notice slapping Rs. 2400 crore tax dues on it.

When the matter came up before Justice B. Rajendran, state Advocate General A. L. Somayaji opposed granting any interim order to the petitioner.

The Advocate General submitted that under Section 27(4) of the VAT, there was no need to issue prior notice to the company, an issue being raised by the petitioner.

Justice Rajendran ordered notice and adjourned the hearing to April 1, 2014.

The state government had issued a Rs. 2,400 crore notice to Nokia saying the company had been selling the products produced from Chennai plant to the domestic market, instead of shipping them overseas.

Nokia management had responded to the notice, saying that it was a “baseless” claim by the Sale Tax Department. s

एक दिन श्रीकृष्ण अर्जुन को अपने साथ घुमाने ले गए। रास्ते में उनकी भेंट एक निर्धन ब्राह्मण से हुई। उसका व्यवहार थोड़ा विचित्र था।

वह सूखी घास खा रहा था और उसकी कमर से तलवार लटक रही थी। अर्जुन ने उससे पूछा- 'आप तो अहिंसा के पुजारी हैं। जीव हिंसा के भय से सूखी घास खाकर अपना गुजारा करते हैं। लेकिन फिर हिंसा का यह उपकरण तलवार क्यों आपके साथ है?'

ब्राह्मण ने जवाब दिया- 'मैं कुछ लोगों को दंडित करना चाहता हूं। आपके शत्रु कौन हैं? अर्जुन ने जिज्ञासा जाहिर की।'

ब्राह्मण ने कहा 'मैं चार लोगों को खोज रहा हूं, ताकि उनसे अपना हिसाब चुकता कर सकूं। सबसे पहले तो मुझे नारद की तलाश है।

नारद मेरे प्रभु को आराम नहीं करने देते, सदा भजन-कीर्तन कर उन्हें जागृत रखते हैं। फिर मैं द्रौपदी पर भी बहुत क्रोधित हूं। उसने मेरे प्रभु को ठीक उसी समय पुकारा, जब वह भोजन करने बैठे थे।

उन्हें तत्काल खाना छोड़ पांडवों को दुर्वासा ऋषि के शाप से बचाने जाना पड़ा। शबरी जिन्होंने उसने मेरे भगवान को जूठा खाना खिलाया।

तब अर्जुन ने पूछा आपका तीसरा शत्रु कौन है? वह है हृदयहीन प्रह्लाद। उस निर्दयी ने मेरे प्रभु को गरम तेल के कड़ाह में प्रविष्ट कराया, हाथी के पैरों तले कुचलवाया और अंत में खंभे से प्रकट होने के लिए विवश किया।

चौथा शत्रु है अर्जुन। उसकी दुष्टता देखिए। उसने मेरे भगवान को अपना सारथी बना डाला। उसे भगवान की असुविधा का थोड़ा भी ध्यान नहीं रहा। कितना कष्ट हुआ होगा मेरे प्रभु को। यह कहते ही ब्राह्मण की आंखों में आंसू आ गए।

यह देख अर्जुन का घमंड चूर-चूर हो गया। उसने श्रीकृष्ण से क्षमा मांगते हुए कहा मान गया प्रभु, इस संसार में न जाने आपके कितने तरह के भक्त हैं। मैं तो कुछ भी नहीं हूं।

संक्षेप में

अगर कोई बात सच्ची श्रद्धा से की जाए तो अभिमान तुरंत नष्ट हो जाता है।

पूरी दुनिया में विद्वान लोग ईश्वर के प्रति एक खास नजरिया रखते हैं। उनका सोचना है कि ईश्वर निराकार है। हम उसे वैसे नहीं देख सकते हैं, जैसे अपने को आईने में देखते हैं। ईश्वर पूरी तरह से बोध का मामला है। जो उस बोध से गुज़रता है, वही बुद्ध हो जाता है।

सरल लोग, जिनकी दुनिया उनकी रोजी-रोटी के इर्द-गिर्द मंडराती रहती है, वे ईश्वर को निराकार नहीं मानते। उनका खयाल है कि ईश्वर हमारी तरह ही कहीं होगा और वहीं से हमारे ऊपर नज़र रख रहा होगा। यही बात दर्शन और पौराणिक शब्दावली में कही जाए तो ईश्वर सगुण है।

ठीक वैसे ही जैसे हम लोग सगुण हैं। वहीं विद्वानों ने ईश्वर को निर्गुण बना रखा है-निरगुनिया। अब यह दर्शन का बड़ा महत्वपूर्ण द्वंद्व है। इस पर बड़ी बहसें हुई हैं। कई सिद्धांतों का प्रतिदान किया गया है। ईश्वर निराकार भी है और साकार भी। ईश्वर निर्गुण भी है और सगुण भी है। भारतीय धर्मों में इसे बहुत शांत तरीके से बताया गया है।

अगर भगवान साकार हैं, सगुण हैं तो उनके लिए ईश्वर शब्द चुना है। ब्रह्म का केवल बोध किया जा सकता है। यही बोध आध्यात्मिकता की पराकाष्ठा होगा, जिसे हम परमतत्व या अंतिम सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार करते हैं। यहां ईश्वर हमारे बहुत करीब आ जाता है और हम उसे थोड़ा नीचे ले आते हैं।

जब ईश्वर थोड़ा और नीचे आता है तो अवतार के रूप में आ जाता है-कभी राम बनकर, कभी श्याम बनकर। यहां से एक आम आदमी के लिए ईश्वर के साथ तादात्म्य बैठाना और सरल हो जाता है।

पूरी दुनिया में भक्ति की मदद से ईश्वर की निकटता आम आदमी के लिए बिलकुल ठीक-ठीक समझ में आने वाली बात हो जाती है। अवतार की थ्याेरी ईश्वर का सरलीकरण है। ईश्वर और आध्यात्मिकता से संबंधित जितने प्रतीक हैं उन पर भी गाैर करना चाहिए। ईश्वर को अगर वाणी में व्यक्त करें तो वह 'ऊँ' होगा।

अगर आंखों से देखने वाली किसी ऑब्जेक्टिव चीज़ के रूप में व्यक्त करें तो वह प्रकाश होगा। यहां तक तो सब ठीक होगा, लेकिन जो निराकार हो, जिसका कोई आकार ही नहीं है जो दिखता ही नहीं है, फिर उसे कैसे व्यक्त करेंगे? लेकिन भारतीय आध्यात्मिकता ने निराकार को भी व्यक्त करने के कुछ तरीके सोचे होंगे। हमारी आध्यात्मिक परंपरा में 'ध्यान या मेडिटेशन' निराकार को व्यक्त करता है।

इस तरीके को ही हम ध्यान या मेडिटेशन के नाम से जानते हैं। अगर आप भगवान के करीबी शिष्यों में शामिल होना चाहते हैं तो आपको उनके निराकार स्वरूप का बोध करना पड़ेगा, जो आप केवल मेडिटेशन से हासिल कर सकते हैं।

Papmochni ekadashi vrat for gaining virtue

कर्म करते हुए जाने-अनजाने कई बार हम पुण्य अर्जित कर लेते हैं तो पाप भी हमारे ज़िंदगी के लेखे-जाेखे में आ जाते हैं। यही कारण है कि मनुष्य इसी पाप-पुण्य और जीवन-मृत्यु के चक्र में उलझा रहता है।

इस चक्र से मुक्त होने के लिए हमारे पौराणिक धर्म ग्रंथों में पापमोचिनी एकादशी व्रत की उपयोगिता के बारे में बताया गया है। पुराणों के अनुसार चैत्र कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी पापमोचिनी है यानी सभी तरह के पाप को नष्ट करने वाली।

सर्वप्रथम भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने अर्जुन को जाने अनजाने में हुए पाप कर्म से मुक्त होने के लिए एक पापमोचिनी एकादशी का व्रत बताया था। तब उन्होंने अर्जुन को एक कथा सुनाई। एक बार चैत्ररथ नामक सुन्दर वन में च्यवन ऋषि के पुत्र मेधावी ऋषि तपस्या में लीन थे।

इस वन में एक दिन मंजुघोषा नामक अप्सरा की नजर ऋषि पर पड़ी तो वह उन पर मोहित हो गई और उन्हें अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने की पूरी कोशिश करने लगी। कामदेव भी उस समय उधर से गुजर रहे थे कि उनकी नजर अप्सरा पर गई और वह उसकी मनोभावना को समझते हुए उसकी सहायता करने लगे। अप्सरा अपने कार्य में सफल हुई और ऋषि कामपीड़ित हो गए।

काम के वश में होकर ऋषि शिव की तपस्या का व्रत भूल गए और अप्सरा के साथ रमण करने लगे। कई वर्षों के बाद जब उनकी चेतना जगी तो उन्हें अहसास हुआ कि वह शिव की तपस्या से दूर जा चुके हैं। तब उन्हें उस अप्सरा पर बहुत क्रोध आया और तपस्या भंग करने का दोषी जानकर ऋषि ने अप्सरा को श्राप दे दिया कि तुम पिशाचिनी बन जाओ। श्राप से दु:खी होकर वह ऋषि के पैरों पर गिर पड़ी और श्राप से मुक्ति के लिए निवेदन करने लगी।

मेधावी ऋषि ने तब उस अप्सरा को विधि सहित चैत्र कृष्ण एकादशी का व्रत करने के लिए कहा। भोग में निमग्न रहने के कारण ऋषि का तेज भी लोप हो गया था अत:ऋषि ने भी इस एकादशी का व्रत किया जिससे उनका पाप नष्ट हो गया।

उधर अप्सरा भी इस व्रत के प्रभाव से पिशाच योनि से मुक्त हो गयी और उसे सुन्दर रूप प्राप्त हुआ व स्वर्ग चली गई। वैसे इस व्रत के विषय में भविष्योत्तर पुराण में विस्तार से वर्णन किया गया है ।

व्रत करने की विधि

एकादशी के दिन प्रातः स्नानादि से निवृत होकर भगवान विष्णु की पूजा करें। घी का दीपक जलाकर भगवान से जाने-अनजाने जो भी पाप हुए हैं उससे मुक्ति पाने के लिए प्रार्थना करें। जितना अधिक संभव हो 'ओम नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय' मंत्र का जप करें। इस व्रत में भगवान विष्णु के चतुर्भुज रूप की पूजा की जाती है।

व्रती दशमी तिथि को एक बार सात्विक भोजन करे और मन से भोग विलास की भावना को निकालकर हरि में मन को लगाएं। एकादशी के दिन सूर्योदय काल में स्नान करके व्रत का संकल्प करें । संकल्प के उपरान्त षोड्षोपचार सहित श्री विष्णु की पूजा करें।

पूजा के पश्चात भगवान के समक्ष बैठकर भग्वद् कथा का पाठ अथवा श्रवण करें। एकादशी तिथि को जागरण करने से कई गुणा पुण्य मिलता है अत:रात्रि में भी निराहार रहकर भजन कीर्तन करते हुए रात्रि जागरण करें।

द्वादशी के दिन प्रात: स्नान करके विष्णु भगवान की पूजा करें फिर ब्राह्मणाें को भोजन करवाकर दक्षिणा सहित विदा करें पश्चात स्वयं भोजन करें।

Microsoft too late in bringing Office to iPad?

PCs are not selling as they used to, though. iPads and other tablets have become attractive substitutes for many PC functions, like web browsing, watching videos and reading emails. Last year, global shipments of PCs fell 10% from the year before, while tablet sales grew 68%, according to the research firm Gartner.

During the holiday quarter, Microsoft said, Office revenue from businesses rose 10% while consumer revenue fell 24%, partly because it now sells Office as a subscription, which affects its accounting. While Microsoft no longer reveals how much total revenue it gets from the product, the company's business division reported nearly $25 billion for the fiscal year that ended June 30; 90% of that division's revenue was from Office.

Rick Sherlund, an analyst with Nomura Securities, says he believes that during the next year or so Microsoft could add about $1 billion of additional revenue from Office for the iPad and other devices that do not run Windows.

While it would take more than that to make a big difference for a company of Microsoft's size, he said investors believed that Microsoft was showing a greater willingness to create products for other companies' devices.

Adam Tratt, chief executive of Haiku Deck, a presentation app for the iPad that competes with PowerPoint, sees Microsoft's foray into iPad apps as largely a defensive move, rather than a chance to generate incremental revenue.

"The opportunity is to not lose a $25 billion market," said Tratt, who was an Office product manager in the 1990s.

Microsoft's previous chief executive, Steve Ballmer, said late last year that the company was working on Office for the iPad.

Microsoft has created software for other devices for years. It made Word for the Macintosh in the mid-1980s, and more recently released iPhone apps for its Bing search engine and other services. It offered an iPad version of OneNote, a note-taking application in the Office suite, more than two years ago...

New, larger, iPhone likely in September, says Japanese business daily

Apple is to release its newest iPhone in September, with higher resolution and bigger screens, a report said today, its latest salvo in the smartphone wars where it has lost global market share to rivals such as Samsung.

The new handset, expected to be called the iPhone 6, is to come in two versions with a 4.7- or 5.5-inch screen, both
bigger than the current four-inch panel, the respected Nikkei business daily said, without citing sources.

US-based Apple is ordering its higher-resolution liquid crystal display screens from Japanese electronics giant Sharp,
Japan Display and South Korea’s LG Display, it added. Apple released the iPhone 5 in September 2012 and newer
versions in the series last year.

A Japan-based spokesman for the California tech giant could not be immediately reached for comment on the Nikkei
report, which was widely picked up by a string of technology news websites.

The Nikkei story comes after Taiwan’s Commercial Times said this month that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. had started producing chips for the next iPhone.

That news fed rumours that Apple is reducing its reliance for parts on South Korean giant Samsung, its main competitor in the mobile phone market and a bitter rival with which it is contesting several copyright court battles globally...

Watch out, Samsung! LG G2 with 4G could steal Galaxy S5′s thunder

Let’s face it: we are itching to see what 4G LTE is all about? The promise of high-speed internet has got us salivating, just as the 3G launch did in the last decade. As 3G phones become commonplace, 4G is hitting India in a big way this year.

The first phones to benefit from the inaugural 4G wave were the two iPhones – 5s and 5c – as Airtel launched mobile 4G in India, starting with Bangalore. And now there’s a third contender (also with Airtel’s 4G services), which could just be the darkhorse in the smartphone race.

We aren’t calling the LG G2 a darkhorse because it’s not good enough or because LG doesn’t have a great market share. In fact, the phone is very good as we have said in the past and LG has climbed the rankings on the back of its success, coupled with that of the Nexus phones. But because of the imminent entry of 2014 flagships, the LG G2 will always be perceived a peg lower than those phones. With a March release of the 4G G2, LG is trying to change that with sort of a new offering (and definitely a new SKU) to compete against the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the new HTC One M8. Both will be releasing in India around the same time.

It’s also likely the LG has signed a deal with Airtel for 4G on the LG G Pro 2, which was launched earlier this month, but is yet to be widely available. Then there’s the LG G Flex as well. So LG has definitely got the jump on Sony, HTC and Samsung.

HTC One M8 is slated to launch in India with 4G support, but as a brand new phone it will be thousands of rupees more expensive than the LG G2, which still has tremendously powerful hardware. At the launch price of Rs 46,000, the 4G version of G2 is also less expensive than the iPhone 5s. With the Samsung Galaxy S5 launching for well above Rs 50,000 too, LG has an advantage in the price department. Moreover, the current Indian version of the S5 does not have LTE support, so the G2 has it beat there too. Samsung could change that with an LTE-toting S5 at a later date...
