Babri masjid demolition anniversary: Security beefed up in Tamil Nadu

Police deployment has been increased in major cities, towns and district headquarters across the state, with metal detectors being set up at entry of public places.
   
Over 60,000 police personnel would be involved in security across the state, police said. In Chennai alone, over 18,000 police personnel have been deployed at places of worship, international and domestic air terminuses, railway stations, bus terminuses, hotels and commercial spaces, including malls, they said.
   
Four Additional Commissioners, four Joint Commissioners and 19 Deputy Commissioners would lead the 18,000 police personnel, assisted by bomb sniffing dog squads, they said.
   
Armed security men had been posted at many places, including the Central railway station here, with GRP and RPF coordinating the security measures including screening of baggages, they said, adding vehicle checks are also being done.
  
Kar sevaks had demolished the Babri mosque in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh on December 6, 1992.
