According to prosecution, the police had sought the custody of the two
accused clerks who were in a judicial custody till December 12 for their
alleged involvement in the case. The local court gave its consent for
police custody of the accused clerks on Friday.
According to Additional District Magistrate Indermani Tripathi, more than 20 cases of cheating, damaging property of the government land under the Forest Act were registered against 70 people, including the main accused Jai Bhagwan and Shiv Kumar in connection with government land grabbing case.
District authorities, including the police and forest department officials, had unearthed the land grabbing at Hastinapur sanctuary.
The police during interrogation will also try to recover important documents in connection with the case in which the two accused were absconding after a case of alleged unauthorised possession of 700 bigha of government land of Hastinapur sanctuary worth crores of rupees was unearthed by the police. Meanwhile, crops worth more than 15 crore rupees which were grown on government land have been seized.
